The Chico animal shelter is beyond max capacity and is in desperate need for foster parents
CHICO, California.– The Chico animal shelter is full and needs homes for pets so they are in desperate need of more foster animal parents.
Foster parents allow the shelter to make space for incoming animals & give shelter animals a chance to be in a real home.
“You have to be over eighteen and then everybody in the household has to be on board with fostering but as far as income, there’s no minimum, the animal shelter provides food and other resources for the pet while it’s in your home, we usually like to have all the family members come down to meet the animal before bringing it home to make sure that it is going to be a good fit for everybody.” Chico animal shelter manager Gina Catallo-Kokoletsos says.
Catallo-Kokoletsos told Action News Now they have seen an increase in pets over the past year. She thinks people are struggling to take care of their pets because of inflation.
Foster animals are neutered and vaccinated before being given to a foster home. Both dogs and cats are available for fostering and adoption opportunities after fostering are also an option.
